Black History Month is a time to celebrate the contributions of the black community, to reflect on, honor, and highlight the impacts of black history, artistry, and business. For those of us that live in rural areas, it can be difficult to find local opportunities to support the black community, especially when there are few local artistic, historical, or educational resources to engage with.
One important way to celebrate Black History Month is to shop at local black-owned businesses. Although development of large-chain establishments may sometimes be welcome, especially in small towns, it is also essential to support smaller businesses to both empower our communities and keep the spirit of neighborly hospitality afloat. Shopping at local businesses directs the flow of revenue back to the community, opens job opportunities, creates tighter community ties, and helps ensure that employees are knowledgeable about what they are selling. Webb Plaza would like to celebrate Black History Month by highlighting a few of the excellent black-owned businesses in Grand Island:

Zabuni offers individual, wholesale, and subscription deliveries of specialty coffee beans, along with custom blend orders and select discounts.
